Living With Moose. State officials say that increasing the hunting of moose in Vermont’s Northeast Kingdom could help save the animals from the damaging spread of winter ticks. This is the southernmost naturally established moose population in the United States. This year’s annual drawing for a moose hunting permit will take place exclusively online. The moose is Minnesota's largest wild animal, and Minnesota is one of the few states that have moose. The hunts are around $4,500 if you draw a tag, or you can buy Governor’s Tags for around $12-$15,000 at auction.

Moose hunting in Maine is allowed by permit only, with a lottery system allocating approximately 3000 permits to winning applicants, both resident and non resident. In addition, CWD has been reported in reindeer and/or moose in Norway, Finland and Sweden, and a small number of imported cases have been reported in South Korea. Read more for the April/May issue. As of January 2020, CWD in free-ranging deer, elk and/or moose has been reported in at least 24 states in the continental United States, as well as two provinces in Canada.
